New York City

Metropolitan Museum of Art-Van Gogh

Beautiful Boston

Angekommen:) Was soll ich sagen?

First Stop: Island/ Blue Lagoon

Have a break, have a....

Packing for holidays

Today I started suitcase packing(just a bit). I LOVE packing bags or suitcases for trips cause I come in such a relaxing mood. I am allowed to take 2x23kg and 1x10kg. That is quite a lot but I will need the space because I want to kill myself with shopping. Haha just kidding but I have a whole suitcase empty which I put in another suitcase of mine.
I will be flying with my pregnant sister-in-law AAAAND a little stowaway which will be my little cute niece or nephew. We don't know;) In Reykjavik (where we have stopover for a few hours) we will go to visit Blue Lagoon. Ahhh I cannot wait to jump into the 104 F water and bubble away.
On Wednesday I have my next to last master's exams and I am soooooo tired of learning. I can't see myself anymore sitting here at my desk. But time flies and this will also be over soon.

I am just soo sad that I have to leave my man here in Germany (has also exams) but he will be fine without me. Hopefully;)

Organizing for Boston

15 days left until my trip to the states and a lot of organizing upcoming. Today my brother rent the car for our traveling trip.

My brother will be working in Boston at the hospital till the end of August and so we have enough time afterwards to travel around. Never drove with a Ford Escape so I hope this was a good choice but we really did not have any other options than a Ford;) Anyway I just want to have good weather especially after that cold and sooo long winter in Germany. I check the weather forecast for Boston every single day and I have to say -till now- it really looks good for us:)

Countdown

Ok Countdown has begun: only 19 days until HOLIDAYS!!! The last 10 months I was constantly sitting at my desk and learning for my final exams and I am sooo tired of it. "I want to break freeeee" haha that is really what I feel just right now. I booked my ticket to Boston and I am so looking forward it. Although I have a little exam when I get back to Germany but that doesn't bother me a lot because I successfully completed my "bigger" exams.
My first stop will be in Reykjavik for 17hours (!!!) because I will fly with Icelandair. But that's fine cause I will have time to see Reykjavik, maybe Blue Lagoon. I will stay in Boston for 5 weeks and  hopefully I get around and visit NYC, Washington DC and other cities on the east coast and maybe Niagara falls and Toronto.
I have to concentrate on another exam in two weeks and have to organise a lot of things meanwhile. I hope I will have time to blog in Boston and make notes or upload my pics from my daily trips.

si no creyera en mi camino
si no creyera en mi sonido
si no creyera en mi silencio.

que cosa fuera
que cosa fuera la maza sin cantera
un amasijo hecho de cuerdas y tendones
un revoltijo de carne con madera
un instrumento sin mejores resplandores
que lucecitas montadas para escena
que cosa fuera -corazon- que cosa fuera
que cosa fuera la maza sin cantera
un testaferro del traidor de los aplausos
un servidor de pasado en copa nueva
un eternizador de dioses del ocaso
jubilo hervido con trapo y lentejuela
que cosa fuera -corazon- que cosa fuera
que cosa fuera la maza sin cantera
que cosa fuera -corazon- que cosa fuera
que cosa fuera la maza sin cantera.

Si no creyera en lo mas duro
si no creyera en el deseo
si no creyera en lo que creo
si no ceyera en algo puro.
Si no creyera en cada herida
si no creyera en la que ronde
si no creyera en lo que esconde
hacerse hermano de la vida.
Si no creyera en quien me escucha
si no creyera en lo que duele
si no creyera en lo que queda
si no creyera en lo que lucha.
Que cosa fuera...

"Norooz" Persian New Year!

Tomorrow we celebrate our New Year called "Norooz". Every year the March equinox is taken to define the first day of spring (and this is usually between 19-21 March). That is the reason why we celebrate "Norooz" on different times every year. Tomorrow it will be at 12:09 pm and we have really beautiful traditions for this ceremony.
I always get so excited around spring time. The weather this year was incredibly crazy and soooo bad. I even don't feel like having spring in a few hours because of the cold weather. But anyway this is how it is in Germany and you have to do the best of it.

The Norooz ceremony is celebrated by Iranian, Afghan, Kurdish, Tajik and Uzbek people and also by a lots of other ethnic groups. Norooz has no date of origin but is is originally a Zoroastrian ceremony so it has been celebrated for over 2000 years.

The whole ceremony lasts for 12 days. So you start to "create" a "Haft-Sin" on day one (March 20th) and you will let that "Haft-Sin" in your room for 12 days. The 13th day of Norooz is called "Sizdeh Bedar" (means passing the 13th day). Ancient Persian believed that the 13th day represented the collapsing of sky and earth and so it is a misfortune for your New Year if you stay at home on day 13. So on "Sizdeh Bedar" you celebrate the last day of Norooz outside with friends/family and have a big picnic with lots of food and games and this is how the whole ceremony of Norooz ends.

You can decorate your "Haft-Sin" (means 7 "s") however you want but there are some special and meaningful symbols that you can usually find in every "Haft-Sin".

But for more I have to wait for tomorrow to show you our "Haft-Sin" and tell you more about the symbols.

Happy New Year= Sale no mobarak :)

"A Dream is a wish your heart makes"

A few years ago I visited a performance of "Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam" in Frankfurt. I was so overwhelmed of the whole performance and the beautiful dancing he did that evening. It was awesome!
Though I don't understand a lot about classical dance moves or anything like that but I could really see and feel the passion in his choreography.

I think it is really hard to become a dancer especially with an iranian background or when you raise up in Iran. Iranian do not have such a big problem with dancing as it is because people love dancing and having fun while they're together.
But when it gets more serious and you want to make it as a profession and earn your money with it the whole thing gets a completely other direction. Unfortunately. "It is not a prestigious way to earn your money and what would the neighbours think? Better you study medicine or law!"

Well, I am so glad that I had the chance to see such an amazing and inspirational dancer who made a choice and made his dream come true without listening to other but to his heart.

Here is one of my favourite choreographies of him! Enjoy! Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam
